This panel provides an assessment of hormones, which regulate fertility health. Estradiol and progesterone are vital to reproductive health and fertility.
Estradiol levels regulate the ovaries’ ability to produce eggs. Estradiol helps in controlling the growth of the uterine lining during the first part of the cycle. If the woman’s egg is not fertilized, estrogen levels decrease and menstruation begins. If the egg is fertilized, estradiol works with progesterone to stop ovulation during pregnancy.
Increased LH levels indicate that the ovulation is about to begin, which means the most fertile period of the cycle has started. A woman is most fertile during this period when the LH levels surge.
FSH helps control the menstrual cycle and egg production. High FSH levels could result in infertility issues. Women with elevated FSH levels on day 2 or 3 of their menstrual cycle have been shown to have reduced chances of live birth. Results illustrate hormone levels with respect to normal reference ranges.
